Privacy Policy

This policy explains what samsaam collects, why we collect it, and what happens to it. It describes how the product actually works today.

Information you give us

• Account details. Your email address, your name, and your profile photo if you set one. If you sign in with a connected account such as Google, we receive the email address and basic profile information that sign-in provides.
• Sign-in information. Passwords are never stored by samsaam. Authentication is handled by a specialist provider, and we hold only the account identifier it gives us.
• Content you upload. Video and audio files, and any images or text you add to a project.
• Support messages. Anything you write to us through the Help page, so we can answer it.

Information the service creates

• Transcripts and captions. The text of what is said in your media, with per-word timings.
• Translations, when you ask for them.
• Exports. Rendered videos and caption files you download.
• Project data. Your template, styling, timing and export settings.

Information collected automatically

• Usage records. Which operations you ran and when, so plan limits can be applied and problems investigated.
• Device and connection information. Standard details your browser sends, including IP address, used for security, abuse prevention and diagnostics.
• Approximate location. We use a general country-level signal derived from your connection to order the language options we show first. This is not precise location and is not stored against your account.
• Cookies. Required cookies keep you signed in and keep your session secure. We do not use advertising cookies.

How AI processing works

Producing captions means your audio has to be analysed by speech recognition, and translation works the same way. To do this we send the relevant part of your content to specialist processing providers acting on our instructions.

We do not use your content to train any AI model of our own, and we do not sell your data or share it for advertising. Your uploads are processed to deliver the service you asked for. They are private to your account, are never published or displayed publicly by us, and are not shared with other users — except within a team workspace, where the people you invite can see the projects in it.

Billing information

Payments are handled by a third-party payment provider. Card numbers and payment credentials are entered with that provider and are never received or stored by samsaam. We hold a record of your plan, your subscription status and your billing history so we can give you the access you have paid for.

Service providers

We may use trusted third-party service providers to provide hosting, payments, analytics, authentication, AI processing, storage and other infrastructure required to operate the Services. These providers process data on our instructions and under their own contractual and privacy obligations, and are not permitted to use your content for their own purposes.

Storage and retention

Your projects, transcripts, captions and settings are kept while your account is open, so you can come back to them. Uploaded videos and the files made from them (audio, editing copies and exports) are kept for a limited time:

• On the Free plan, a project's video is deleted 15 days after the project was created.
• On a paid plan, a project's video is kept while you use it and deleted after 60 days without activity (uploading, editing or exporting — opening a project does not count).
• When a paid plan ends, stored videos are kept for 15 days from the day it ended, then deleted.
• Finished exports are available to download for 7 days.

The date a project's video will be deleted is shown on the project. When it has been deleted, the project, its captions and its settings remain, and you can upload the video again to continue. Deleting a project removes its captions, settings and all of its stored files. Deleting your account removes your projects and the content and files attached to them.

Records we need for legal, accounting, security or abuse-prevention reasons — such as billing history and usage logs — may be kept after deletion for as long as those purposes require. Backups are replaced on their normal cycle, so deleted content can persist briefly in backup copies before being overwritten.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, access to production systems is restricted, and content is stored in access-controlled storage. Please note that producing captions requires our systems and our processing providers to be able to read your audio — so this is not end-to-end encryption, and we do not describe it as such.

No online service can promise perfect security. Use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed by somebody else.

Deleting your data

You can delete any project from your dashboard at any time. To delete your whole account, use Account → Security → Delete account, which removes it straight away, or contact us through the Help page.

We action account deletion requests within 30 days of receiving them, and usually much sooner. Once actioned, your projects and the media, transcripts and settings attached to them are removed, except for the records described under Storage and retention above.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You can exercise any of these by contacting us through the Help page. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Legal disclosures

We may disclose information where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to investigate suspected fraud or abuse, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

Children

samsaam is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it. Where local law sets a higher age for consent to online services, that age applies instead.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and make the change visible in the product.
