Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of samsaam. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use samsaam, and old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live. If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.

Your account

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure. Accounts are personal: you may be signed in on one device at a time, and signing in elsewhere ends the previous session. Do not share your account — invite people to your workspace instead, if your plan includes seats.

Tell us promptly if you believe somebody else has accessed your account.

Your content stays yours

You keep all rights to the media you upload and to the captions, translations and exports produced from it. We claim no ownership of it.

You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your files, process your audio to produce captions and translations, render your exports, and show that content back to you and to anybody in your team workspace. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies retained as described in the Privacy Policy.

You must have the rights to what you upload

You confirm that you own your uploads, or otherwise have permission to use them and to have them processed by us. This includes permission from anyone recognisable or audible in the material where that is required where you live.

Acceptable use

You must not use samsaam to upload or produce:

• Content you do not have the rights to use.
• Content that is unlawful, or that depicts the abuse or sexualisation of children.
• Content intended to harass, defame, defraud or impersonate someone.
• Malware, or anything designed to disrupt the service.

You must also not:

• Attempt to bypass plan limits, quotas, rate limits or access controls.
• Resell, sublicense or provide the service to others as your own, unless we have agreed that in writing.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer or automate access to the service outside any interface we provide for it.

Captions and AI output

Transcription and translation are produced by machine learning. They are usually good and are sometimes wrong, particularly with heavy accents, overlapping speakers, background noise, mixed languages, names and specialist terminology.

You are responsible for reviewing captions before you publish them. Every caption is editable in the editor for exactly this reason. We do not warrant that output will be accurate, complete or fit for any particular purpose.

Plans, limits and quotas

Free and paid plans differ in what they allow — including maximum video length, export quality and format, storage, and how many people may share a workspace. The limits shown on the pricing page apply to your plan and are enforced when you upload, process or export.

Storage is counted against your plan's quota. When the quota is full, new uploads are refused until you remove content or move to a plan with more space. Rate limits apply so that one account cannot exhaust shared capacity.

Uploaded videos and the files made from them are stored for a limited time, as set out in the Privacy Policy under “Storage and retention”: 15 days from creation on the Free plan, 60 days without activity on a paid plan, and 15 days after a paid plan ends. Your projects and captions are kept.

Team workspaces

Plans that include seats let you invite other people into your workspace. You should understand how this works before inviting anyone:

• Members share the workspace. They can see and work on the projects in it.
• Storage and usage limits are shared across the whole workspace — they are not granted separately to each member.
• The workspace owner controls billing, can invite, suspend and remove members, and remains responsible for use of the account.
• Work created by a member inside the workspace belongs to the workspace and stays there if that member leaves.
• Joining a workspace does not cancel any subscription a member already has. That remains theirs to manage.

Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are offered on monthly and yearly terms, charged in advance through our payment provider. Prices are shown before purchase and may be presented in your local currency.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops the next renewal and your paid features continue until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Upgrades take effect when the payment is processed. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current period. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend paid features until it succeeds.

Payments are final and are not refunded once taken — including renewals, upgrades, and a plan chosen by mistake. The free plan is there so you can try samsaam properly before paying for it. We do correct our own errors: duplicate charges, billing after cancellation, or a fault that stopped you using what you paid for. Availability and changes

We work to keep samsaam available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Maintenance, third-party outages and faults happen. We may change, add or remove features as the product develops; where a change materially reduces what a paid plan provides, we will give reasonable notice.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using samsaam and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access where these terms are breached, where we are required to by law, or where an account is being used in a way that threatens the service or other users. Where a breach is serious we may act without notice.

Our intellectual property

The samsaam software, caption templates, designs, brand and name remain ours. Nothing in these terms transfers them to you. You may use exports produced from your own content freely, including commercially.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data, arising from your use of the service. Keep your own copies of anything important: we take reasonable care, but we are not a backup service and we are not liable for loss of content.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
