Captions for talking-head videos
By the Samsaam team · Updated
A talking-head video is one person, one camera and an idea. Nothing on screen changes, so the captions do the visual work: they pace the delivery, underline the point and carry the message for viewers watching without sound.
What makes talking-head captions work
- One emphasised word per line. Use Emphasize on the word that carries the meaning — the caption editor makes it a right-click.
- Stacked layouts (a big key word with smaller supporting text) add visual rhythm to a static frame.
- Key points only for explainers: important captions headline three or four statements instead of the full transcript.
- Clean audio: room echo and hum make a static shot feel amateur — record close to the mic in a soft room.
- Keep the face centred when reframing a landscape recording to vertical: Auto Frame follows the speaker.
